Old Lemay Ferry Road between Seckman Road-Lions Den Road and East Four Ridge Road will be closed to through traffic Wednesday (Aug. 1) and early Thursday (Aug. 2) while crews clean up the remains of a paint spill in January.
The road will be closed to all but local traffic from 7 p.m. Wednesday to 7 a.m. Thursday.
Heavy rains this week delayed the scheduled start of the project for 24 hours, Jefferson County Public Works Director Jason Jonas said.
Crews from Environmental Works, Arnold, have been hired to do the work.
On Jan. 25, a tractor-trailer carrying a load of paint ran off Old Lemay Ferry Road between Frisco Hill Road and Regency Woods Place. No paint spilled onto the road, but paint spilled into the ravine where the big rig ended up.
The Landstar System truck was carrying about 40,000 pounds of product, including 550 five-gallon buckets and 1,168 one-gallon buckets of paint, along with dry materials, officials said. About half of the paint ended up in the ravine, and diesel fuel leaked out of the truck.
The shipper is responsible for the cleanup costs, officials said.
