EUREKA, Mont. - 40 dogs as well as ponies, chickens, rabbits, cats and a goat were seized from a property in the Rollin Hills area on July 17, according to a press release from the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office (LCSO). 

Law enforcement first received a call regarding possible animal neglect at the property on June 27, 2026, according to LCSO. After further investigation, a search warrant was executed on July 17 by LCSO deputies along with the Eureka Police Department (EPD) and U.S. Border Patrol agents. 

"The property was documented and multiple animals were seized including 40 dogs consisting of Pomeranians, Huskies and mixed breeds," LCSO said. "Also, seized were 2 ponies, 2 chickens, 2 rabbits, 1 goat and 4 cats."

All the animals were evaluated and treated by a veterinarian after being taken into the custody of Lincoln County. LCSO said they were surrendered by the owner and new homes are being found for them. 

"The case will be turned over to the Lincoln County Attorney’s Office for review regarding charges," LCSO said. 

The investigation is ongoing.
