Because of inclement weather, the Fox C-6 School District has rescheduled public forums that were supposed to be held today (Feb. 18) and allow residents to provide input about what qualities they want to see in the district’s next superintendent.

The forums are now scheduled for 4 p.m., 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. Monday (Feb. 22) in the gyms at Fox High School, 751 Jeffco Blvd., in Arnold, and Seckman High School, 2800 Seckman Road, in Imperial.

The district called off school today because of snow.

Fox already emailed a survey to students, teachers and families to gather information about the qualities people want in the next superintendent. The surveys must be completed by 5 p.m. today, and community members may complete them by going to the district’s website at fox.k12.mo.us.

The forums are being held to offer another way for the public to provide feedback about the search for a superintendent to replace Nisha Patel, who is leaving the district at the end of the school year to take a job as superintendent of the School District of Clayton.

Fox school board members have hired EGL (Education, Governance and Leadership) Association to oversee the superintendent search. The firm helped develop the survey and will lead the forums.

Because of concerns about the possible spread of COVID-19, the district will allow just 250 people at a time to attend each of the forums, and everyone will be required to wear a face mask. The sessions are scheduled to last about 45 minutes, Fox district officials announced on its website.

Information gathered from the forums, surveys and virtual focus groups with staff members will be shared at a future board meeting.

Board President Vicki Hanson said board members hope to hire a new superintendent by March 16.
