Festus officials announced today, April 2, that the City Council will hold special meetings on Monday, April 6, and Wednesday, April 8, at City Hall. The council is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. both days.

The agendas for both meetings only list closed sessions dealing with personnel matters. The start of the meetings will be open to the public, but after council members vote to enter closed session, the meeting room will be cleared.

Both meetings are scheduled to adjourn following the closed sessions without reentering open session. Sunshine Laws allow for closed meetings when discussing personnel matters.

Michael Christopher, the city’s interim city administrator, said the meetings are about the search for a new city administrator to replace Greg Camp, who left the position Feb. 20 for a similar job in Silverthorne, Colo.

City officials began searching for Camp’s replacement shortly after Jan. 14, when the Silverthorne Town Council voted to hire him as town manager.

Festus leaders initially set a deadline for applications of Jan. 30, but extended the application period to March 13. Officials said 34 people applied for the position.
