Voters in parts of Eureka and Wildwood will go to the polls on Nov. 8 to choose new representatives in the Missouri House of Representatives.

The area, which was formerly solidly in District 110, was split between that district and District 88 after the redistricting process that is held every 10 years after the federal Census.

Dottie Bailey, who had held the District 110 seat for four years, decided against running for a third two-year term.

Republican Justin Sparks and Democrat Josh Thackston are squaring off in the November general election.

Bruce DeGroot, who has served in the House for six years, ran unopposed in the Republican Party primary in August, but withdrew from the general election at the last minute.

The St. Louis County Republican Central Committee then selected Sparks from a field of three candidates.

In District 88, incumbent Democrat Tracy McCreery of St. Louis County could not run for a fifth two-year term in the House because of the state’s term limits standards; she is running for the District 24 seat in the Missouri Senate.

Republican Holly Jones and Democrat Kyle Luzynski, both of Eureka, are seeking to replace McCreery.

Neither returned a Leader candidate questionnaire.

State representatives currently receive a $37,711 salary, plus mileage and a per-diem payment for expenses for each day the General Assembly is in session.
