Republican Ann Moloney will face Democrat Jessie Shepherd for the state House District 114 seat on Nov. 3 after defeating fellow Republican David Broach on Tuesday in the August primary.
Moloney, 58, of Barnhart received 2,484 votes while Broach received 2,327 votes, according to complete, but unofficial results.
Shepherd ran unopposed on the Democratic Party ballot. She received 2,153 votes.
District 114 covers a portion of eastern Jefferson County, including Pevely, Herculaneum and Festus. The seat has been vacant since Ken Waller died on Aug. 24, 2025.
House representatives are paid an annual salary of $41,770 and serve two-year terms.
Moloney has said her goal is to keep data centers out of District 114 and to clean out the corrupt leadership system that brought the development to Jefferson County.
“The people in Jefferson County/Festus area have spoken,” Moloney said Tuesday. “And they do not want a data center. That is what this has been all about.”
She said she will be honored to serve if elected in November. She said people have worked hard to make their voices heard about data centers, and she will do her best to represent them.
Moloney said people are hearing more to lead them to a conclusion that data centers are environmentally harmful. She said residents didn’t move to Jefferson County to be near this type of development.
Moloney has a background working in marketing, sales, wealth management and financial planning. She spent three years in education sales and has worked on nonprofit management and development. She spent more than a decade in management at a private charitable foundation as secretary and treasurer.
