A man and two children from Dittmer were injured in a crash on Thursday, Aug. 15, on Gravois Road west of Oakcrest Drive in House Springs, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

At 3:54 p.m., Dennis L. Polston, 47, was driving an eastbound 2023 Mazda CX3 and struck a 2023 Kia Forte, driven by Drew C. Helms, 18, of Festus, that turned onto Gravois Road into his path from a parking lot, the report said.

Polston was moderately injured, and two passengers in the vehicle, a 13-year-old boy and an 11-year-old boy, had minor injuries. All three were taken by Big River EMS to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, the report said.

According to a hospital spokeswoman, Polston was treated and released.

Because the Dittmer boys are juveniles, the Highway Patrol did not release their names.

Both drivers and the injured passengers were wearing seat belts, the Mazda was totaled, and the Kia was extensively damaged, the report said.
