Two Jefferson County residents were injured Monday afternoon (Oct. 7) in a one-vehicle accident on I-55 at mile marker 183.8 north of Pevely, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 2:10 p.m., Zachary R. Brye, 20, of Imperial was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Express south on the interstate and it ran off the right side of the road, where it struck the marker sign and then struck a rock cut and overturned, the report said.
Brye and a 16-year-old Barnhart male, who was a passenger in the van, were moderately injured and transported by Rock Township Ambulance to Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City, according to the report.
Brye was treated and released, a hospital spokesman said.
No information was available about the juvenile’s condition.
Brye was not wearing a seat belt, and the teenager was wearing one, the patrol reported.
The van was totaled, the report said.
