An overturned tractor-trailer shut down the entrance ramp from Hwy. 141 to northbound I-55 for more than four hours Monday (March 18). The ramp was closed during the evening rush hour, causing traffic problems in the area, the Arnold Police reported.
A 2011 Freightliner filled with scrap aluminum tipped over while the driver, a 37-year-old St. Louis man, attempted to get onto the interstate. Nash Transport of St. Louis owns the big rig and was hauling aluminum from Anheuser-Busch InBev’s Metal Container Corp. can plant, at 42 Tenbrook Industrial Park, the report said.
“When he made the turn, the load shifted in the trailer, causing it to tip over,” Lt. Clinton Wooldridge said.
He said there were no hazardous materials in the trailer, but Arnold Police shut down the entrance ramp from 4:02 p.m. to 8:41 p.m., the report said.
“It was closed for a while because they had to move the cargo out of the trailer before they could turn it upright,” Wooldridge said.
The driver had a laceration to his left arm and was transported to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, the report said.
