A St. Louis man was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident Saturday evening, May 27, on Old Lemay Ferry Road south of Arnold.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that Mark Guillermo, 46, of St. Louis was riding a 2006 Yamaha FZ6RC motorcycle south on Old Lemay Ferry road south of Spring Drive at 7:56 p.m. when he went into the northbound lane to pass a southbound vehicle. Seeing oncoming traffic, Guillermo swerved back into the southbound lane after passing the vehicle but his motorcycle began to wobble. He rode off the right side of the road and hit a utility pole, then continued forward and hit a mailbox before returning to the road, where the motorcycle overturned and Guillermo was thrown off. Both Guillermo and the motorcycle slid across the road and off the left side.
Guillermo sustained serious injuries and was taken by Rock Township Ambulance to Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
An update on his condition was not available.
Guillermo was wearing a state-approved safety helmet, the report said; the motorcycle was extensively damaged.
