Lauren E. Beier, 17, of Pevely was hurt this afternoon (April 25) in a two-car accident on I-55 at the 183 mile marker between Pevely and Barnhart, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
Stephanie A. Engel, 54, of St. Louis was driving a 2018 Chevrolet Malibu south on I-55 and while changing lanes, the Malibu struck the rear of a southbound 2012 Honda Civic driven by Beier. After the collision, the Civic struck a guardrail, the report said.
No injuries were reported for Engel.
However, Beier was moderately hurt and taken by Rock Township Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, where she was treated and released, a hospital spokesman said this afternoon.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.
The two cars were extensively damaged, the report said.
