An Imperial man was hurt Friday evening (Oct. 20) in a two-vehicle collision on the I-55 west outer road just south of the Arnold city limits.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that David Parsons, 67, of Imperial was driving a 2007 Chevrolet HHR north on the outer road at 4:50 p.m. when he stopped to turn left onto Commerce Drive. In an effort to avoid hitting Parsons, the driver of a vehicle behind him, Rafael Ortiz Medina, 31, of O’Fallon, Mo., applied the brakes of his 2014 Dodge 3500 pickup and steered to the right, and the pickup went partially off the right side of the road, but the front left corner of the truck struck the right rear corner of the Parsons’ Chevrolet.

Ortiz Medina was not hurt, but Parsons sustained moderate injuries and was taken by Rock Township Ambulance to St. Clare Health Center in Fenton, the report said.

An update on his condition was not available.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts, the report said. The Chevrolet had moderate damage and the Dodge minor damage.
