Two Imperial teens and two Arnold teens were injured Sunday, Aug. 4, in a crash on Hwy. M east of Old Lemay Ferry Road in Antonia. The circumstances surrounding the crash are under investigation, but no charges had been filed as of today, Aug. 8, Cpl. Logan Bolton of the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

At 7:23 p.m., an Arnold 17-year-old boy was driving a westbound 2007 Saturn Vue when he used the left shoulder of the road to pass a 2024 Chevrolet Equinox driven west by Michael A. Strahan, 58, of High Ridge, striking the left side of the Chevrolet, the report said. The Saturn traveled off the right side of the road and overturned, ejecting a passenger.

“There is an investigation into if a weapon was involved to corroborate statements provided to troopers on scene,” Bolton said.

The 17-year-old driver was moderately injured and taken by Rock Township Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, the report said. Three passengers in the vehicle, a 16-year-old girl from Arnold and Michaela M. Gilreath, 19, and Raymond Rieser, 18, both from Imperial were seriously injured. The 16-year-old girl was taken by the ambulance district to St. Louis University Hospital, and Gilreath and Rieser were taken to Mercy Hospital South.

As of Aug. 5, Gilreath was in serious condition and Rieser in satisfactory condition, a hospital spokesman said.

Since the Arnold teenagers are juveniles, the Highway Patrol did not release their names.

According to the report, Strahan was wearing a seat belt, and the juveniles, Gilreath and Rieser were not. The Saturn was totaled, and the Chevrolet was moderately damaged.
