Barbara A. Winschel, 32, of House Springs died this morning (March 22) following a two-vehicle accident at Hwy. M and St. Luke’s Church Road in Barnhart, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reports.
At 8:20 a.m., Winschel had been driving a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier north on St. Luke’s Church Road and was stopped at the stop sign at the intersection with Hwy. M before failing to yield and pulling into the path of a big rig headed east on M, the report said.
Richard A. Jennings, 53, of High Ridge was driving the big rig, a 2013 Kenworth 440. No injuries were reported for him.
Winschel was taken by helicopter to Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur, where she was pronounced dead at 9:47 a.m., the report said.
Winschel was not wearing a seat belt, and Jennings was wearing one, the patrol reported.
The Cavalier was totaled, and the big rig was moderately damaged, the report said.
