A House Springs man has died and a House Springs woman has been charged with driving while intoxicated following a two-vehicle accident on Wednesday, Sept. 4, at Hwy. 30 and Byrnes Mill Road in Byrnes Mill, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
At 5:30 p.m., Jaymie L. Brown, 46, crossed Hwy. 30 while driving a 2006 Chrysler Town and Country and traveled into the path of James P. McAnally, 55, who was riding a 2017 Harley-Davison eastbound on Hwy. 30. The motorcycle struck the passenger side of the Chrysler and McAnally was ejected, the Highway Patrol report said.
McAnally was taken by Big River Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County where he was pronounced dead at 2:39 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, the report said.
Brown, who was not injured, was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated-serious physical injury and taken to the Jefferson County Jail, the report said.
Before McAnally died, the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Brown on Sept. 5 with the Class D felony of driving while intoxicated resulting in serious physical injuries. As of Sept. 6, she was being held on a $35,000 cash-only bond.
Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney Trisha Stefanski said this afternoon, Sept. 6, she anticipates the charge will be changed since the victim has died.
According to the probable-cause statement, Brown failed to yield to a motorcycle, causing the crash. McAnally had a serious head injury, multiple broken bones and two collapsed lungs.
A mobile drug test allegedly confirmed the presence of amphetamine in Brown’s saliva. She consented to a blood test, which has been sent to the Missouri State Highway Patrol lab for testing, the Highway Patrol reported.
Brown had no prior DWI-related traffic offenses, the report said.
