A Fenton man and woman were hurt Monday morning (April 2) in a one-vehicle accident on I-44 west of Bowles Avenue in Fenton, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reports.
At 5:39 a.m., Charles A. Parmenter, 63, was driving a 2004 Jeep Cherokee east on I-44, and the vehicle ran off the right side of the interstate, struck a guardrail and then continued forward and struck a sign post before overturning, the report said.
Both Parmenter and a passenger in the Jeep – Carol K. Parmenter, 58 – were moderately injured and taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur, where they were treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said.
The Jeep was totaled, the patrol reported.
Charles Parmenter was not wearing a seat belt, but Carol Parmenter was wearing one, the report said.
