A Eureka woman and a Ballwin man died after a Dec. 11 one-vehicle accident on the westbound I-44 exit ramp to South Lindbergh Boulevard in St. Louis County, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At about 10 p.m., James A. Delia, 61, of Ballwin was driving a 2006 Hyundai Sonata west on I-44 when he had a medical emergency and the car traveled down the exit ramp over South Lindbergh before returning to the exit ramp and then running off the right side of the road, where the car struck a fence and went into a pond, the report said.
Delia was taken by Valley Park Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South (formerly St. Anthony’s Medical Center) in south St. Louis County, where he was pronounced dead at 12:15 a.m. today (Dec. 12).
A passenger in the vehicle – Marjorie S. Hunt, 70, Eureka – was taken by Kirkwood Ambulance to St. Louis University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 2:43 a.m. today, according to the report.
Both victims were wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.
The vehicle was totaled, the report said.
