Scott J. Drennen, 57, of De Soto was hurt Monday morning (July 20) in a two-vehicle accident on Hwy. 67 north of Murphy Road south of Festus, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 4:50 a.m., Drennen was driving a 2019 Jeep Compass north on the highway and failed to negotiate a curve in the road before the vehicle crossed the center line and struck a southbound 2001 Dodge Ram driven by Mario R. Cortez, 37, of Arnold, the report said.
No injuries were reported for Cortez.
However, Drennen was moderately hurt and taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City, where he was treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Cortez was wearing a seat belt, and Drennen was not wearing one, the patrol reported.
The Jeep was totaled, and the Ram was extensively damaged, the report said.
