Patrick Moran, 37, of Crystal City, was airlifted for treatment after his motorcycle collided with an SUV on May 11 in Festus, according to Festus Police Chief Doug Wendel.
He said at about 4:15 p.m., Moran, driving a 2022 Yamaha motorcycle, collided with a 2014 Chevrolet Equinox driven by a 24-year-old Arnold man.
“(Moran) was riding a motorcycle eastbound on Hwy. A when (the Equinox), westbound, turned left to go south on Gannon Drive on flashing yellow lights and into the path of the motorcycle,” Wendel said. “The motorcycle struck the passenger front door of the Equinox.
“The motorcycle rider was in critical condition. He was flown by helicopter to a St. Louis area hospital.”
Moran was wearing a helmet, Festus Police reported.
The Equinox driver had no apparent injuries, he said.
The Arnold man was issued a citation for failing to yield to oncoming traffic, Wendel said.
The Yamaha was significantly damaged and the Equinox had moderate damage, he said.
