Brian C. Foens, 47, of Cedar Hill was hurt Monday night (May 13) in a two-vehicle accident on Hwy. 30 west of Little Brennan Road in High Ridge, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 9:10 p.m., Foens was driving a 1996 Ford Econoline van east on Hwy. 30, and the brakes failed, so he swerved to the left. However, the van struck the rear of an eastbound 2016 GMC Sierra pickup, which ran off the right side of the road. Then, the van ran off the left side of the road and traveled into the westbound lanes, where it came to rest, the report said.
Douglas B. Vaugier, 40, of High Ridge was driving the pickup. No injuries were reported for him.
However, Foens was moderately hurt and taken by North Jefferson County Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, where he was treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Vaugier was not wearing a seat belt, and Foens was wearing one, the patrol reported.
The van was totaled, and the pickup was extensively damaged, the report said.
