Arnold Police arrested a 57-year-old Farmington man for allegedly driving while intoxicated after he was involved in an accident in the Subway parking lot, 1712 Missouri State Road. No injuries were reported, police said.
At approximately 12:40 p.m. Dec. 9, Arnold Police got a call about the accident after the man, in a 2016 Mazda CX-5, started to turn from the restaurant onto Missouri State Road but decided he couldn’t make it out in time to avoid oncoming traffic and backed into the lot, where he hit a 2012 Jeep Wrangler driven by a 44-year-old De Soto woman, the report said.
A juvenile passenger was in the Wrangler, too, the report said.
Everyone involved in the accident was wearing a seat belt, and the vehicles sustained minor damage, according to the report.
Officers allegedly smelled alcohol on the man’s breath, but he refused to perform field sobriety tests. Because he appeared intoxicated, he was arrested and taken to the Police Station, where he was booked and released to a sober diver, the report said.
The man was issued a summons to appear in Arnold Municipal Court for DWI, Detective Lt. Jeremy Christopher said.
