An Arnold man and two women, from Barnhart and Sullivan, were moderately injured in a two-vehicle traffic accident early Saturday afternoon, Aug. 27, in the Pea Ridge area of Washington County southeast of Sullivan.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that Andrea Belfield, 25, of Sullivan was driving a 2002 Ford Taurus north on Mine Road north of Woodland Drive at 12:30 p.m. too fast for conditions and she failed to negotiate a curve. The Ford went off the right side of the road and Belfield steered it back, but into the path of a southbound 2007 Kia Spectra driven by Melissa Duffie, 42, of Barnhart. The left front of the Ford struck the front of the Kia, and the ford went off the left side of the road and into an embankment, while the Kia went off the right side of the road, according to the report.
Belfield, Duffie and a passenger in the Kia, Daniel Tolle, 42, of Arnold, all sustained moderate injuries and all were taken by Washington County Ambulance to Missouri Baptist Sullivan Hospital.
Updates on their conditions were not available.
Duffie and Tolle were wearing seat belts but Belfield was not, according to the report.
Both vehicles were totaled, the report said.
