Pacific Medicine Shoppe offers free delivery to wide area

While offering all the expected services of a pharmacy, the Medicine Shoppe located at 2290 W. Osage St., Pacific also will deliver prescriptions free of charge to a broad region, said pharmacist Leslie Demski.

“We make our free delivery service available from Washington to Cedar Hill or De Soto,” said Demski, also the pharmacy manager. “It’s a wide area. It’s available to any of our patients.”

The pharmacy offered the free delivery service prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, but Demski said people have utilized the service more frequently than before during the trying times of COVID concerns.

“We have found people using it more because of the pandemic lockdowns,” she said.

Over-the-counter medications also may be obtained through the free delivery service, Demski said.

“When they get their prescriptions, they may also get over-the-counter items like pain medication or medication for coughs and colds or for allergies.”

She said those who use the delivery service come from all different walks of life.

“It covers the different ages,” Demski said. “It could be someone who lives alone and has COVID concerns. It could be someone who has children and doesn’t want to go into the pharmacy.”

Demski said a goal of the Medicine Shoppe she runs is to get to know the patients who depend on it for their medications.

“I would say we offer a very personal experience for our patients as opposed to, maybe, other pharmacies,” she said. “We know our patients by name. We offer that personal touch so they do not feel like a number, but feel they’re part of the Medicine Shoppe family.”
