Job seeking can be stressful at the best of times, and looking for a new job during a pandemic can be especially daunting.

Fortunately, job seekers can get some help at the Jefferson County Job Fair, set for Wednesday, Oct. 21.

Registration for the free event is open now at jeffcojobfair.com.

The virtual event will provide resources to help job hunters best showcase themselves for potential employers.

Resume specialists from Jefferson College are available now to review resumes and offer suggestions for cover letters, help with interview skills, do mock interviews, explore careers and more. Students, alumni and community members of all ages may access those services through the College Central Network at collegecentral.com/jeffco.

“We want to help people be as ready as they can be for the Job Fair,” Leader assistant publisher Peggy Scott said. “We want to help you get your resume as up-to-date and professional-looking as possible so that when you hear about that perfect job during the webinar, you’ll be ready to apply right away.”

The virtual event is sponsored by five local entities: Leader Publications, the city of Arnold, the Arnold Chamber of Commerce, the Fox C-6 School District and Jefferson College.

It will consist of a series of webinar-style meetings, during which employers will explain the services they offer and the type of employees they seek to hire.

“We’re finalizing the schedule of webinars, and job seekers can register now,” Scott said. “We’ll have more information as it develops both in the paper and online, either at the Job Fair website (jeffcojobfair.com) or the Leader’s website (myleaderpaper.com).”
