Pet Spot: Black cat Wendy is enjoying life in her Pevely home

Heather Yates of Imperial submitted a photo of her cat, Wendy, for Pet Spot.

Heather Yates of Imperial said her 18-month-old black cat Wendy had a rough start to her life. Yates adopted Wendy from the Open Door Animal Sanctuary in House Springs.

“Wendy was less than a year old when she was found in a parking lot with a large litter of kittens,” Yates said. “After spending some time in foster care with her kittens, we adopted her.”

She was very scared and even feral at first, but runs the house now with her older brother, Clyde, an orange tabby.”

Wendy has adapted to life in the home.

“She is super friendly,” her owner said. “I can tell she’s grateful to be in a home. She loves being pet and she loves to play.”

Yates said the two cats get along well together.

“She and Clyde are best friends,” she said. “They love each other.”

Yates said she named her cat after TV talk show host Wendy Williams.

“I was watching the new Wendy Williams documentary and that was the first time (Wendy the cat) came out to explore, giving her the name Wendy,” she said.
