Chloe, 13, who’s part shih tzu and weighs about 3 pounds, once survived a chicken hawk attack, said Steve Edwards of Festus.

He said Chloe is his granddog and belongs to his daughter, Amy Horrell, also of Festus.

“(Chole) survived a chicken hawk trying to grab her,” Edwards said. “We were watching her. She was in our backyard, and a chicken hawk swooped in and grabbed her but couldn’t hold on to her. Her sweater ripped and she slipped out of the chicken hawk’s grip. She did have to get stitches in her head.”

With age, Chloe has become calmer, Edwards said.

“Right now, she’s very laid back,” he said.

Chloe has a good personality, Edwards added.

“She’s been a good companion for my daughter’s family,” Edwards said. “Chloe is extremely friendly.”
