Darwin Stevens of Herculaneum sent in this photo of his family’s three dogs lined up for their treats.

“They get their bones every night at 8 p.m.,” he said. “Believe me, they can tell time.”

The dogs – Sheldon, a 14-year-old male beagle; Harley, an 8-year-old female yellow Lab; and Jersey, a 10-month-old female brown Lab/Newfoundland mix – look forward to their treats, Stevens said.

“When it starts becoming 8 o’clock, they’re in my face and follow me to the closet,” Stevens said. “They line up like they are in the picture. Harley is first. She shakes my hand and gets her bone. Sheldon’s next, then Jersey. They all have to sit and then shake my hand.”

The three dogs are buddies, Stevens said.

“They get along great. Jersey is still a puppy. She’s rambunctious. Sheldon is an old man. He’s 14. He’s lazy, likes to lay around. Harley rules the roost. She’s top dog.”

The dogs are an important part of the family, Stevens said.

“They’re three of the best dogs you can find,” he said. “They don’t give us any trouble.”
