Dawn Johnson of De Soto said her 9-month-old shih tzu puppy, Ruddy, is learning to assist her.
“We adopted him at 4 months due to me having severe anxiety and panic attacks,” Johnson said. “He’s so amazing. I never knew having him would bring me such joy. He’s not a service dog. We’re in the process of getting him trained.”
Ruddy has a bubbly personality.
“He loves kisses, cuddles, hugs and walks, and he loves playing catch and chewing on everything,” Johnson said. “He likes to play fetch with balls. He loves to play with my nephews. He chases them through the house.”
Ruddy, who weighs about 7 pounds, coexists with Johnson’s other much larger pet, Jack.
“I also have a husky, Jack, who’s about 66 pounds,” Johnson said. “Jack doesn’t know what to think about him. He just kind of tolerates him.”
Johnson appreciates Ruddy.
“Ruddy is such a blessing and joy,” she said. “I love everything about him.”
