Jade the Markie – a Maltese-Yorkie mix – became fascinated with this plastic pumpkin a few Halloweens ago, said Sherry Hatley of Hillsboro.
“It was a plastic one with a little light in it,” she said. “The light is hard to see in the picture. It operated on a battery. Jade liked the pumpkin and played with it, pushed it around with her paw.”
Jade is now 8. The photo was taken during Halloween 2015, Hatley said.
She said Jade is a pleasant pet and favors Hatley’s husband, Richard.
“She’s a daddy’s girl,” Sherry Hatley said. “If he pulls a blanket out, she’s right there on his lap.”
Jade has flourished as a member of the family, Hatley said.
“My goodness, we’re fond of her,” she said. “She was 1 1/2 pounds when we got her. Now, she weighs 12 pounds.”
