It was true in '32 when Duke Ellington proclaimed that "It Don't Mean A Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing)" and it was just as true Thursday night (May 14) when the Festus High School Jazz Band presented its Jazz in the Gym concert. This time, the band was joined by the Jefferson County Jazzers, a group of adult musicmakers that included Festus band directors Chris Auchly and Scott Evans and their counterpart from Herculaneum High School, Doug Smelser. The high schoolers took their turn in the spotlight, yielded time to the Jazzers, and then the two groups combined for some hot jazz.
