Zesty Ham Spread, Cheesy Crescent Nachos, Queso Chicken Dip

It’s party time again! The Super Bowl is Sunday, when football fans will gather with family and friends to cheer on their favorite teams, watch all the new TV commercials and enjoy snacks and drinks.

The snacks don’t have to be elaborate, but it’s fun to serve something new each year. And, while you want to serve some tasty food for your Super Bowl party, you don’t want to be stuck in the kitchen and miss out on all the fun.

So, it’s great when you can prepare some of the treats ahead of time, maybe with just a few quick additions before guests arrive. This Zesty Ham Spread fits that bill. It can be made the day before so all you need to do is pile the crackers around the serving dish that day.

However, if you want to take a little extra time, you might want to try these recipes for Cheesy Crescent Nachos and Queso Chicken Dip.

For a nice presentation, you can serve this dip in a crisp tortilla bowl. Just take an 8-inch flour tortilla, place it over an oven-proof bowl, place it on a cookie sheet and bake it at 400 degrees for about 5 minutes.

Invert it and fill it with this delicious Queso Chicken Dip, which can be ready in minutes.

 ZESTY HAM SPREAD

1 cup finely chopped cooked ham

4 ounces (1 cup) shredded colby cheese

3 tablespoons chopped sweet pickles

1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)

1/2 cup mayonnaise or salad dressing

1/4 cup dairy sour cream

2 tablespoons prepared mustard

2 tablespoons horseradish sauce

1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

In medium bowl, combine all ingredients; mix well. Serve on crisp crackers. Store in refrigerator. Makes 1 1/2 cups.

CHEESY CRESCENT NACHOS

1 (8-ounce) can of refrigerated crescent rolls

1 (4-ounce) can chopped green chilies, drained (optional)

1 cup (4-ounces) shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1 cup (4-ounces) shredded mozzarella or Monterey Jack cheese

Heat oven to 350 degrees.

Separate dough into 4 rectangles. Place in ungreased 13-by-9-inch pan; press over bottom and 1/2-inch up sides to form crust. Seal perforations. Sprinkle chilies over crust (if used) and then sprinkle both cheeses over all.

Bake at 350 degrees for 22 to 28 minutes or until crust is golden brown. Cool 5 minutes; cut into triangles or squares. Serve warm with Queso Chicken Dip or plain salsa. Makes 24 appetizers.

QUESO CHICKEN DIP

1 (15-ounce) can queso blanco cheese sauce

1 (4.5-ounce) can chunk chicken

1/2 cup chunky salsa (your choice)

 Mix together in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave for 8-10 minutes, stopping to stir every two minutes.

Pour into your crisp tortilla bowl when ready to serve. Serve with Cheesy Crescent Nachos.
