For apple pie lovers, there’s a variety of apples still available this fall to make that favored dessert. There also is a variety of recipes for this American favorite, but this recipe for Deliciously Easy French Apple Pie lives up to its name. It is both easy and delicious!
While the streusel topping gives this pie a French twist, it’s as American as ever. With a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped topping, it may become your family favorite.
DELICIOUSLY EASY FRENCH APPLE PIE
Pie
6 cups slicef apples
1 1/4 teaspoons cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1 cup sugar
3/4 cup milk
1/2 cup Bisquick or other biscuit mix
2 eggs
2 tablespoons softened butter
Streusel topping
1 cup Bisquick or other biscuit mix
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1/3 cup brown sugar
3 tablespoons margarine
Grease 10-by-1 1/2-inch pie plate. Mix apples and spices; turn into plate.
Beat remaining ingredients, except those for the streusel topping, until smooth, 15 seconds, in a blender or 1 minute with mixer. Pour into pie plate over apples.
Mix all ingredients for streusel topping together until crumbly and sprinkle on top of pie. Bake at 350 degrees until knife comes out clean, about 55-60 minutes.
Serve warm or cold with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped topping, if desired.
