The city of Arnold has an updated logo.

Arnold City Council members will hold a teleconference meeting at 7 p.m. tonight (May 7). It will be the second council meeting held by phone.

City officials have said that during the COVID-19 pandemic, they only will hold meetings if they are deemed essential, and those meetings may be held virtually, or by teleconference, City Administrator Bryan Richison said.

He said council members and other city officials will use a teleconferencing system to hold meetings for the rest of the month, despite Missouri and Jefferson County lifting stay-at-home orders on Monday (May 4) that had been in place to limit the spread of the coronavirus.

Residents may call in to listen to the council meeting, but they will not be able to talk during the session. Those who want to listen in must call 636-282-6682 and then enter an access code, 0279244.

Seven items for the council to vote on are listed on the meeting agenda, including the consent agenda that includes regular operations like paying the bills.

In addition to the consent agenda, the council is expected to vote on amending the 2020 budget; awarding a $1.2 million contract to Franklin County Construction to construct two new buildings – one for the Street Department and one for the Parks Department at the current Public Works site at 2900 Arnold Tenbrook Road; approving a $19,600 contract to AA Quick Plumbing and Sewer Services to extend a water main where the two new buildings will be; approving a $400,000 contract to Spencer Contracting Co. for asphalt street overlays and repairs; approving a utility easement for Charter Communications; and approving a utility easement for Missouri American Water.

No closed meeting is scheduled tonight.

Typically, the City Council holds regular meetings on the first and third Thursdays of the month with a work session scheduled for the second Thursday of the month at City Hall. There will not be a work session this month, Richison said.
