Savannah’s Coffee Corral, a western-themed coffee shop with both drive-thru and dine-in options, has opened at 8715 Commercial Blvd. in Pevely.

Danita Parrish of Pevely, the store’s creator and owner, said she felt inspired to start her own coffee shop.

“(Through my previous job) I got to see lots of different coffee shops, and a lot of chain ones. I really liked the independent ones where it was really comfortable and you could hang out there for the day kind of working,” she said. “I liked those, and so I started looking into that and I decided to open one.”

Parrish named her shop after her daughter, Savannah.

“She’s crazy about coffee drinks and we always joke that she was spending so much in Starbucks that we just bought a coffee shop,” Parrish said. “She helps make the decisions and she’s been there to help with everything through the whole process.”

The western theme was inspired by Savannah’s love of riding horses, Parrish added.

Savannah’s Coffee Corral sells more than coffee. It also sells tea and Tiki Breeze drinks.

“Those are kind of comparable to a Lotus drink,” Parrish said. “It’s a healthier and more natural energy drink.”

As of now, the shop sells some baked goods, but Parrish said she plans to expand the menu.

“We plan for our menu to grow bigger and to offer salads, breakfast menus and lunch sandwiches like paninis,” Parrish said.

The shop currently has eight employees, many who attend or attended Herculaneum High School, Parrish said.

She said she also wants to hold events at the shop, and the first one is set for July 2 when authors Cameron Fica and Nikki Pezzopane will be at the shop to sign and read from their children’s book, “Slothee Wants Coffee.”

The shop is open from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. seven days a week.
