Patricia Borgfield of Festus submitted photos of her husband of 66 years, Tech. Sgt. Harry G. Bergfield (USAF, Ret.), 89.
“Harry was born in Jackson to Elmer and Agnes Borgfield,” she said. “He graduated from Patton High School and enlisted in the Air Force on Sept. 12, 1952.”
He served for more than 22 years, including time at Perrin Air Force Base in Texas; the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.; Spangdalhem AFB in Germany; Moody AFB in Georgia; a tour in Vietnam; Kelly AFB in Texas; and Scott AFB in Illinois, where he retired on May 31, 1975. “While working in the Pentagon in the Judge Advocate General’s office, he went to the Naval School of Justice and became a legal technician and court reporter. For the rest of his career, he worked in the Legal Office.”
The Borgfields met 66 years ago in the snack bar on the fifth floor of the Pentagon.
