Mattress store doing well in spite of it all
Sleep Eazy, 11 Dillon Plaza Drive, in High Ridge had been open just a few months when it had to shut down for six weeks because of the pandemic.
“We had just put up our sign out front and were shut down two weeks later,” co-owner Mike Light said. “But, we’ve come back surprisingly well. We had our best month ever of sales and were able to pay all our bills, which was unbelievable.
“I think a big part of it is due to all the support we’ve had in the High Ridge community.”
Sleep Eazy, which opened in late 2019, carries a variety of mattresses from brands like Chattam and Wells, Spring Air, Capitol Bedding and Noctova, as well as furniture, pillows and sheets.
The store also carries adjustable bed frames, with features like built-in USB ports and Bluetooth technology; lighting; lumbar support; and tilt position adjustments.
Light said the massage options on some beds are a vast improvement on days of yore.
“Remember those old motel beds with the jiggly massage thing on the table? These are way better than that, and you don’t even need a quarter,” he said.
Light said he and co-owner Cory Prsha, along with a staff of three, are committed to giving back to the community.
“We are carrying our Labor Day sale over into October, with part of the proceeds going to first responders,” Light said. “We’re teaming up with St. Louis Hero Network, and at the end of the month, will give them a check.”
Light said the company is considering opening a second location, possibly in northern Jefferson County.
“Everyone here is super nice and friendly, and we look forward to being here for many years,” he said.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays.
