Arnold Police arrested a 39-year-old Sullivan man for alleged shoplifting following a short foot chase outside the Walmart store, 2201 Michigan Ave. The man allegedly stole an electric scooter, generator and mattress from the store, police reported.
Officers were called at about 2:35 p.m. Nov. 17 because the man had the items in a shopping cart and reportedly left the store without paying for them. When officers approached him, he ran but was quickly chased down and arrested without further incident, the report said.
The items were valued at $904 and returned to the store, according to the report.
The man was taken to the Police Station, where he was booked and released pending application for warrants, the report said.
Arnold Police will seek charges against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for felony stealing and resisting arrest, Detective Lt. Jeremy Christopher said.
