The Hillsboro High girls basketball team is the No. 1 seed in its 45th annual tournament and will host No. 2 Freeburg (Ill.) in the championship tonight at 5 p.m.
The Hawks have a record of 14-2 and seek their fifth straight win. In the first two rounds, Hillsboro smashed Vashon (No. 8) 91-7 and cruised past Sullivan (4) 67-49. Herculaneum (7) plays the Wolverines in the seventh-place game at 12:30 p.m.
At the Bruce Thomas Invitational boys basketball tournament at Herculaneum High today at 2:30, No. 4 Northwest plays Valley Park (2) in the championship. The Lions (5-12) have won three of their last four games.
In the final day of the Fort Zumwalt North Invitational in O’Fallon, the Windsor boys basketball team (11-7) meets Troy Buchanan at 12:30 p.m. in the consolation final.
