Festus American Legion Post 253 will try to repeat as the District 13 tournament baseball champions tonight at Yanks Field in Ste. Genevieve against Bonne Terre Post 83.
Post 253 beat Post 83 3-1 on Wednesday night. Left-hander Jake Leitner scattered four hits and pitched a complete game for Festus. Gunnison Heine delivered the game-winning two-run triple against Bonne Terre.
The Bulldogs reached the final after scoring a run in the bottom of the eighth inning to beat De Soto SMCI 7-6 on Thursday night. De Soto pitcher Hunter Canada hurled a complete-game masterpiece against Ste. Genevieve Post 150 in a 2-1 victory as SMCI eliminated the hosts earlier on Thursday.
The winner of tonight’s championship advances to the Zone 4 tournament at Ste. Genevieve next week. Post 150 received an automatic bid to zone because its hosting it.
