At one of the first area track and field meets of the season March 15, the senior set a school record in the javelin throw, hurling the spear 49.32 meters (161 feet, 9.75 inches) at the Potosi Trojan Invitational. Powell broke Drew Ficken’s record of 48.26 (157-57) set in 2022. The Lions swept the throws, also winning the discus and shot put, and beat 11 other schools for the team championship with 120 points.
