Each of these De Soto residents won championships at the AAU Midwest Gymnastics Regional in New Century, Kan. on June 10. Abeln took first in the all-around in the 12-year-old gold division, scoring 37 out of a possible 40 points. She also earned a spot on the Midwest Regional team with a bar score of 9.35. Dixon, in the 14-year-old gold division, won the floor exercise, scoring 9.45 out of a possible 10. She previously had won the floor title at the AAU Ozark District Championship meet in Farmington in April. Dixon also got a spot on the Midwest Regional team with a vault score of 9.45. Thirty-two clubs from five different states competed at Regionals.
