Hillsboro senior Blake Hammond struggled over the last nine holes, but won his third Jefferson County Activities Association golf championship in the last four years after shooting a 7-over-par 79 today (Wednesday) at the Ste. Genevieve Golf Club.
Hammond, a two-time state qualifier, birdied the first hole, but had a double- and triple-bogey over the final nine holes. He won conference titles in 2015 and 2016 before giving way to Crystal City graduate (2017) Tyler Andrews last season.
Festus won the team competition with a score of 350, four shots better than the second-place Hawks.
