The Festus High School boys and girls basketball teams will try and ring in 2026 by winning tournament championships at Park Hills Central High on New Year’s Eve.
The Tiger boys (6-3) are the No. 3 seed in the 70th Bob Sechrest Jr. Christmas Tournament and will play unbeaten top-seeded Potosi (9-0) in the championship at 7:30 p.m. In the semifinals on Tuesday night, the Tigers beat Farmington (2, 4-2) 67-58, and the Trojans beat Hillsboro (5, 5-3) 73-69. The Hawks and Knights meet for third place at 4:30 p.m.
The undefeated Tiger girls (7-0) are the No. 1 seed in the 40th Lady Rebel Christmas Tournament and play Arcadia Valley (3, 5-2) tonight at 6 p.m. Festus beat Steelville (8, 1-4) 65-58 and Central (4, 2-3) 53-45 to advance to the final.
