In winning the state Senior (ages 14-17) Little League championship last month in De Soto, the hosts reached the regional playoffs for the first time since 1989. In the state tournament, pitcher Kaly Zoph allowed two runs in two games. Regionals were held in Lawrenceburg, Ken., July 22-26 and Milayna Drummond and Elizabeth Woelich each hit home runs in an elimination loss to Michigan. De Soto was coached by Travis Zoph, Melanie Downs and Geoff VanMatre.
