After a free-wheeling first quarter where visiting Windsor outscored Grandview 23-16, the non-conference game between county rivals slowed down in the second and the Eagles ended the first half on a 9-0 run that trimmed the Owls’ lead to 32-29.
“In the first half we did a great job of being aggressive, but we still had a hard time scoring because of their length and their size,” Grandview head coach Chris Miller said.
Windsor (8-9) switched from an aggressive man-to-man defense it played in the first half to a sagging zone in the second and held Grandview (5-12) to five points in the third quarter en route to a 62-39 victory.
“In the first half we were OK on offense but sloppy on defense,” Windsor head coach Todd Dutton said. “We played aggressive man to man in the first half and it didn’t work too good.”
