The De Soto girls track and field team won the Jefferson County Activities Association championship for the first time since 2015.
The Dragons have won the JCAA title three times (1996, 2015, 2019) and unseated Jefferson, which had won the last three conference titles. Festus finished second with 158.3 points at Hillsboro on Thursday.
On the boys side, Festus won with 169 points, while De Soto was second with 131.
Rain was persistent on Wednesday during the first day of the meet, and forced an hour delay to the start of Thursday’s events. But weather was not an issue after the meet started and the sun appeared just in time for the last few events.
