After a scoreless first quarter against Saxony Lutheran (19-9) in the Class 3 state quarterfinals March 1, the 6-1 sophomore forward exploded for a game-high 20 points in the Lancers’ 57-41 home victory. St. Pius (24-5) advanced to the basketball final four for the first time in school history (boys or girls) and plays defending state champion Fair Grove (23-7) Friday at Mizzou Arena in Columbia. Blankenship has scored 20 or more points in six games and leads the Lancers with an average of 14 points and nine rebounds per game.
