The De Soto senior left the school as its record holder in the pole vault after winning the Class 4 state championship on Friday at Adkins Stadium in Jefferson City with a height of 15-3. The old record of 15-0 was set in 1984 by Will Rieffer. DeRousse’s vault was a foot higher than the second-place finish. He was the anchor for the Dragons’ 4x200 relay team that finished seventh in 1:30.97. DeRousse was an all-conference kicker for De Soto during football season.
