Wilma Teresa Edwards, 92, of Crystal City died Sept. 27, 2022, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mrs. Edwards was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Church in Crystal City. She enjoyed playing cards, bowling and jellybeans, and loved spending time with family. Born June 25, 1930, in Festus, she was the daughter of the late Ida (Wucher) and Benjamin Meyer. She was preceded in death by her husband: Donald G. “Bud” Edwards.
She is survived by seven children: Rick Edwards of Festus, Connie Edwards of St. Louis, Janell (Kenny) Moonier of Crystal City, Laurie (Steve) Roubidoux of Crystal City, Danny (Sherri) Edwards of Arnold, Robbie Edwards of Festus, Deron Edwards of Crystal City and Julie (Kelly) Becherer of Festus; three siblings: Cletus (the late Billie) Meyer of Festus, Shirley (the late Donald) Fults of Herculaneum and Herman (Betty) Meyer of Crystal City; a brother-in-law: Jerry Beck of Crystal City; 18 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by eight siblings: Raymond “Hugo” (the late Maybelle) Meyer, Edgar (the late Rose) Meyer, Leroy (the late Floyd) Bohnert, Hubert (the late Irma) Meyer, Chalmer “Diney” (the late Christine) Meyer, Thelma (the late Valle) Besand, Gloria “Tootsie” Beck and Robert Meyer.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at Sacred Heart Church, 555 Bailey Road, in Crystal City, officiated by Father Mathew Cheruparambil. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or in the form of Masses in Mrs. Edwards’ honor. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
