Harper, Bill

William Wayne “Bill” Harper, 74, of Greers Ferry, Ark., died Aug. 21, 2017, at his home. Mr. Harper was a carpenter, building homes with his son until his retirement in 2005. He was a Vietnam-era veteran of the U.S. Army and enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and loved ones. Born Aug. 14, 1943 in De Soto, he was the son of the late Otis Willis and Lorene Pearl Harper.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years: Michele “Micky” Harper; two sons: William Wayne “Bill” (Debbie) Harper Jr. and Bruce Allen (Norma) Harper, both of Arkansas; five grandchildren: Cody (Ashley) Harper, Tiffany Harper, Wesley Harper, Claira (Travis) Harper DeLoach and Courtney (Stephen) Morrow, all of Arkansas; four great-grandchildren: Amelia Harper, Mason Morrow, Riley Morrow and Cole Morrow; and five siblings: Shelby Jean (Dale) Shelley of De Soto; Robert “Bob” Harper of Arkansas, Donna (Bill) Nickelson of Festus, Paul (Janice) Harper of Terre du Lac and Richard David (Ruth) Harper of St. Louis; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends who are considered family.

A funeral service was held Aug. 24 at First Assembly of God in Greer's Ferry, Ark., officiated by Pastor Pam Lundberg. Burial was in the Brownsville Cemetery in Arkansas. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements were under the direction of Heber Springs Funeral Home in Heber Springs, Ark.
